Am 27. Januar 2003, vor zwei Jahren, erreichte uns 7 Priesterinnen das
Dekret der EXKOMMUNIKATION, die Josef Cardinal Ratzinger gegen uns im
Namen von 12 Kardinälen und Bischöfen aussprach.

Wie geht es uns Priesterinnen mit dieser Exkommunikation?

1. Wir sind glücklich, dass keine weiteren Strafaktionen der
Glaubenskongregation aus Rom folgten. Der Papst hat mit keinen
zusätzlichen Strafmaßnamen oder einer Verstärkung der Exkommunikation
gedroht. Im Gegenteil, es gab 2004 die Veröffentlichung von Cardinal
Arinze zum Verständnis von Mann und Frau, aus denen man durchaus den
Versuch einer Achtung der Frau zwischen den Zeilen herauslesen konnte.

2. Wir sind glücklich, dass uns die Basis der Kirche angenommen hat. Vom
Kirchenvolk und Gruppen von Katholikinnen und Katholiken schlagen uns
nicht nur Freundschaft und Lob, sondern Wellen der Begeisterung entgegen.
"Ihr habt das, was diese verstaubten Kleriker der Amtskirche nicht haben:
Ihr strahlt Begeisterung und Freude aus. Ihr ändert erschreckende Details
und ersetzt altmodische und unverständliche Formulierungen durch aktuelle
Ausdrücke", so das Lob der Basis.

3. Wir sind glücklich, dass wir zur Spendung so vieler Segnungen
herangezogen werden. So nimmt die Nachfrage nach Trauungen ständig zu. 4/5
sind heterosexuelle Paare, etwa 1/5 sind homosexuelle Paare, die uns
bitten, ihre Verbindung zu segnen. An den Hochzeitsfeierlichkeiten nehmen
durchschnittlich 100 bis 300 Menschen teil, die uns immer wieder ihre
Hochachtung aussprechen.

4. Wir sind glücklich, dass wir inzwischen auch Kinder taufen dürfen und
dass es Pfarrer gibt, die bereit sind, diese Taufe in die Kirchenbücher
einzutragen.

5. Wir sind glücklich, dass immer mehr Katholikinnen und Katholiken
uns Priesterinnen auch zu Beerdigungen holen. Die Argumentation der Leute:
"Ich möchte jemand zur Beerdigung meiner Mutter oder meines Vaters, die
sich ernsthaft Gedanken macht, nicht völlig überarbeitet ist und mich
wirklich seelisch begleitet." Diesen Wunsch können wir Priesterinnen
erfüllen.

6. Wir sind glücklich, dass uns von den Pfarrern der Basis so viel
Toleranz entgegenkommt. Wenn wir bei sakramentalen Handlungen Pfarrer
treffen, dann signalisieren diese uns: Ihr seid willkommen an unserer Seite.

7. Wir sind glücklich über die Zusammenarbeit in der Ökumene. Viele von
uns Priesterinnen haben eine Heimat bei den anderen christlichen Kirchen,
im besonderen bei der evangelischen Kirche gefunden. Dank deshalb von
Herzen an unsere Schwestern und Brüder der evangelischen Kirche.

8. Wir sind glücklich, dass die Medien uns aus der reißerischen
Schlagzeilenpräsentation herausgenommen haben. Die Zeit der lästernden und
verachtenden Berichterstattung hat einer seriösen und hintergründigen
Berichterstattung Platz gemacht. Sicher, viele vermissen die vielen
Berichte, die über uns in den letzten 2 Jahren geschrieben wurden, aber es
war doch wichtig, den Schritt von den schrillen Sätzen zu den seriösen
Berichten zu gehen.

8. Wir sind glücklich, dass unsere Bewegung weitergeht. Mit der Weihe der
ersten Französin in diesem Jahr und der Weihe von 5 Diakoninnen und 5
Priesterinnen im Juli 2005 in Amerika und Kanada, zeigt sich, dass der
Einzug der Frauen in die Ämter der rk Kirche nicht mehr zu stoppen ist.

9. Wir sind glücklich über die Unterstützung so vieler Laien. Laien
halten nicht nur Vorträge über unsere Priesterinnenbewegung, sie helfen
uns auch als Ministrantinnen und schreiben uns bezaubernde Emails.
Danke besonders an diese Frauen und Männer.

10. Wir sind glücklich, dass wir in München Anfang des Jahres 2005 zwei
Pflegezimmer für pflegebedürftige alte Menschen oder sterbende
Menschen egal welchen Alters einrichten können. Dank der
Unterstützung einer Privatperson können wir die Pflege in diesen Zimmern
so günstig und billig machen, dass sie nur etwa die Hälfte kostet, was ein
Heimplatz kosten würde. Der Pflegebedürftige wird damit nicht zum
Sozialfall. Die Pflege selbst übernehmen einige von uns Priesterinnen in
Zusammenarbeit mit Ärzten, die unsere Arbeit von Herzen loben. Wer einen
Angehörigen in einem dieser Pflegezimmer unterbringen will, möchte sich

Verbesserungsnotwendig scheint uns folgendes zu sein:

1. Der Papst und die Glaubenskongregation sollten bereit sein, die Strafe
der Exkommunikation, mit denen sie uns belegten, neu zu überdenken.
Exkommunikation ist nur eine Strafe, nicht ein Kirchenausschluss und nicht
ein Berufsverbot. Gerade weil wir eine Gruppe sind,
die immer größer wird, und die Exkommunikation einer Gruppe nach
Kirchenrecht gar nicht möglich ist, und weil wir nur
positiv handeln,  sollte der Papst die Exkommunikation zurücknehmen. So
suchen wir dringend mutige Männer im Vatikan, die an oberster Stelle
für uns sprechen.

2. Verbesserungsfähig ist auch der Kontakt zu den Basisgruppen in einigen
Ländern. Während WIR SIND KIRCHE in Deutschland in
vorbildlicher und unterstützender Weise unserer Bewegung als wichtigen
Baustein der Verwirklichung der Ziele in der Kirchenvolksbewegung
unterstützt, und die amerikanische Bewegungen WOC (Women Ordination
Conference) voll hinter uns steht, haben wir zu einigen Basisgruppen der
Kirchenvolksbewegungen in der Welt noch keinen Kontakt.
Für Vermittlungen sind wir dankbar.

3. Verbesserungsbedürftig ist auch der Kontakt zur 3. Reihe der Kleriker.
Während die erste Reihe, der Papst, uns niemals als Feinde bezeichnet
und die Kardinäle der 2. Reihe in höflicher und toleranter
Weise mit uns umgehen, scheint es so, als hätte die 3. Reihe, der die
Bischöfe und die Ordensoberen angehören, das Bedürfnis, "päpstlicher als
der Papst zu sein". Es würde uns sehr freuen, wenn auch die Bischöfe
versuchen würden, unsere Bewegung als hilfreich für die Weltkirche zu sehen.

RESÜMEE: Es bedarf keiner Exkommunikation von uns Priesterinnen.
Wir haben durch unser Alltagswirken gezeigt, dass wir zu Taten bereit
sind, die den Menschen Gutes tun. Wir wurden von den Katholikinnen und
Katholiken mit offenen Armen aufgenommen und werden vom Kirchenvolk zu
vielen kirchlichen Handlungen gebeten. Wir wären sehr glücklich, wenn
unsere Amtskollegen in Rom erkennen würden, dass Frauen einen wichtigen
Part in der Gesellschaft und in der Kirche leisten können.

DESHALB BITTEN WIR DEN PAPST, DIE STRAFE DER EXKOMMUNIKATION, MIT DER ER
UNS im JAHRE 2002 BELEGTE, fallen zu lassen.

T W O  Y E A R S  O F  E X C O M M U N I C A T I O N:

H o w   d o   w e   f e e l ?

On 27 January 2003, the seven women ordained in June 2002 on the Danube
received a Decree of Excommunication from Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger,
written in the name of, and signed by, twelve cardinals and bishops.

What are our reflections on this excommunication decree after two years?

Despite the pain of being excommunicated, we are grateful for the following:

1. That there have been no further excommunications since 2002, and no
other censures or penalties from the Vatican.  In fact, in 2002 there
was a plea from Cardinal Arinze for understanding regarding both men and
women in the church.  The document implies a heightened respect for
women.  Cardinal Daneels of Brussels has also supported women's rights,
including the ordination of women to the diaconate.

2. That we find so much support from some 'grassroots' group movements
in the church.  Most if not all of them support women's rights,
including the right to be ordained.  We are often invited to speak at
their gatherings and we experience a great deal of support and
encouragement within these groups.

3. That we get so many requests from people that we bless their
marriages or their commitment to each other.  (The canonical term is
that we 'assist at' the wedding but many people do not understand what
is meant by this.)  4/5 of the couples who approach us are heterosexual,
1/5 homosexual.  Often there are between 100 and 300 invited guests at
the ceremony.  Despite their surprise at R.C. womenpriests conducting
the ceremony, we are constantly amazed at the positive reaction we
receive from so many, young and old ... and there are always further
invitations.

4. That we are also requested to baptize children ... and that there are
parish priests who are willing to enter the baptism in the parish
baptismal register.

5. That more and more people ask us to conduct the funeral of someone in
the family who has died.  They appreciate the way we conduct the funeral
service and also what we are able to do in our ministry to the family as
we accompany them in their grieving.

6. That we find so many priests who accept our ministry, including our
sacramental ministry.  They either make us feel positively welcome, or
at least they do not put anything in our way and do not do anything to
stop us.

7. That we have so many opportunities for ecumenical contact, dialogue
and celebrations.  In Germany and Austria, we appreciate the growing
spirit of harmony we experience with the Lutheran (Evangelische) Church.

8. That the media have given us a break, in the last two years, from the
sensational headlines, articles and programs that appeared constantly in
the media before and after the 2002 ordinations.  We were deluged by
phonecalls, emails, letters and a stream of radio and television teams,
requesting more and more interviews.  It was very exhausting and much of
it was based on sensationalism.  In the past two years, the screaming
headlines have given way to more serious, reflective articles about us.
(For the St Lawrence ordinations on 25 July, we are perhaps more
prepared to face the media:  we have a press officer and have learnt by
experience.  We need the press coverage, of course, but we must learn
how to handle it.)

9.  That our R.C. Womenpriests Movement is growing constantly.  With the
ordination of a Frenchwoman to the priesthood in Lyons on 2 July 2005
and then of four more women as priests and five as deacons, on 25 July,
it is becoming clear that the ordination of women in the R.C. church
is moving forward and growing year by year.

10.  For those of our readers who live near Munich, we want to inform
you that a private person has made available to us two rooms in which we
will be able to take care of two patients, regardless of age.  We will
be able to do this at at about half the price of what it usually costs

I M P R O V E M E N T S  WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE OR TO STRIVE FOR:

1.  We would like to approach the Pope and Cardinal Ratzinger to ask
them to reconsider the excommunication they imposed on those of us
ordained in 2002.  Excommunication is a penalty, it is not exclusion
from the Church or from following a call.  Excommunication cannot be
applied to a group.  We are in fact a group, an ever-growing group.  We
will ourselves request that our excommunication be withdrawn or
cancelled, and we are also looking for some brave men who will speak on
our behalf to the highest authorities in the Vatican.

2.  There is also room for improvement in our contact with some of the
'grassroots' movements mentioned above.  While we appreciate the support
we find from many of these groups, there are a few with whom we have
little or no contact.  We would like to build good relations with these
groups.

3. On the one hand, we rejoice that there are so many priests who either
positively support us or at least do not stand in our way, but on the
other hand there are still many others, and many members of the church,
who are still loud and clear in their condemnation of us.  Neither the
Pope nor Cardinal Ratzinger speak against us, despite the penalty of
excommunication.  We will continue to do all in our power, together with
so many others, to strive for the recognition of the rights of women in
church and society.  It is our hope that we will work together better in
the future, recognizing that all of us have, in fact, the same aims and
goals.

DEUX ANS D' EXCOMMUNICATION
Quel est notre état d'esprit ?
Le 27 janvier 2003 , les sept femmes ordonnées en Juin 2002 sur le Danube  ont reçu du Cardinal Ratzinger un décret d'excommunication écrit au nom de douze cardinaux et évêques qui ont signé .
Quelles sont nos réflexions ,deux ans après , sur ce décret d'excommunication ?
Malgré la douleur d'être excommuniées , nous rendons grâces sur les éléments suivants :
1.depuis 2002, il n'y a pas eu d'autres excommunications , d'autres censures ou punitions venant du Vatican .De fait en 2002 il y eut un appel du Cardinal Arinze pour de la compréhension dans l'église à l'égard des femmes comme des hommes . Ce document incite à augmenter le respect pour les femmes . Le Cardinal Daneels (Bruxelles ) est aussi en faveur des droits des femmes incluant l'ordination des femmes au diaconat .
2.Nous trouvons beaucoup de soutien auprès de certaines communautés de base dans l'église . La plupart sinon toutes défendent les drois des femmes ,y compris le droit à l'ordination .
         On nous invite souvent à prendre la parole dans leurs  rassemblements et nous      faisons l'expérience dans ces groupes de beaucoup d'encouragements.
3.De nombreuses demandes nous sont adressées pour bénir des mariages ou des engagements . (En termes canoniques ,nous sommes « témoins » du mariage mais beaucoup de gens ne comprennent pas le sens de ce terme )4/5 des couples qui nous font la demande sont hétérosexuels, 1/5 homosexuels . Il y a souvent entre 100 et 300 invités à la cérémonie . Malgré leur surprise de voir des femmes prêtres catholiques romaines dirigeant la cérémonie , de nombreuses personnes jeunes et âgées ont une réaction positive que nous admirons constamment?et les invitations continuent d'arriver



4.On nous demande aussi de baptiser des enfants?et des prêtres de paroisse sont d'accord pour inscrire le baptême dans le registre paroissial.
5.De plus en plus de gens nous demandent de conduire les obsèques d'un membre de leur famille . Notre façon de conduire le service leur plaît ainsi que notre accompagnement de la famille en deuil .
6.Tant de prêtres acceptent notre ministère, y compris sacramentel.
Soit ils nous accueillent positivement , soit au minimum ils ne mettent aucun obstacle sur notre chemin et ne font rien pour nous arrêter .
7.Nous avons de nombreuses occasions de contact ?cuménique , de dialogue , de célébrations . En Allemagne et en Autriche nous apprécions l'esprit d'harmonie qui grandit entre l'Eglise Luthérienne et nous .
8.Les média nous laissent souffler, depuis deux ans ,après les gros titres et les articles qui sont apparus constamment avant et après les Ordinations de 2002.C'était un déluge d'appels téléphoniques , d' e-mails ,de lettres et un défilé d'équipes de radio et télévision qui réclamaient de plus en plus d'interviews .C'était épuisant et la plupart ne recherchait que le sensationnel . depuis deux ans les titres criards ont laissé place à des articles plus sérieux, plus réfléchis à notre sujet .
(En ce qui concerne les ordinations du Saint Laurent le 25 Juillet ,nous sommes peut-être mieux préparées face aux média : nous avons une attachée de presse et l'expérience nous a averties . Nous avons besoin de la couverture par la presse ,bien sûr , mais il faut savoir s'en servir .)

9.Notre mouvement Femmes prêtres catholiques romaines est en constante augmentation . L'ordination à la prêtrise d'une française à Lyon le 2 Juillet 2005 , puis de quatre femmes de plus comme prêtres et cinq comme diacres , le 25 Juillet  montre clairement  que l'ordination de femmes dans l'église C.R. avance et grandit année après année .
10.Pour ceux/elles de nos lecteurs/trices qui habitent près de Munich voici une information : une personne privée met à notre disposition 2 chambres où nous pourrions soigner deux personnes quel que soit leur âge . Cela se ferait à peu près à la moitié du prix habituel pour une garde à la maison .Prendre contact avec

PROGRES QUE NOUS SOUHAITERIONS FAIRE OU CONSTATER
1.Nous souhaiterionsprendre contact avec le Pape et le cardinal Ratzinger
pour leur  demander de reconsidérer l'excommunication prononcée contre celles d'entre nous qui ont été ordonnées en 2002 . L'excommunication est une sanction , ce n'est pas l'exclusion de l'Eglise et n'empêche pas de suivre un appel . On ne peut appliquer l'excommunication à un groupe .Et nous sommes un groupe, un groupe en croissance . Nous allons nous -mêmes demander que notre excommunication soit retirée ou abolie , et nous recherchons aussi quelques hommes courageux pour parler en notre faveur aux plus hautes autorités du Vatican
2.Il y a aussi des progrès à faire dans nos rapports avec les communautés de base citées plus haut . Alors que nous apprécions le soutien de beaucoup de ces groupes ,il y en a quelques uns avec qui nous avons peu ou pas de contact. Nous aimerions développer de bonnes relations avec ces groupes .

3.D'un côté nous nous réjouissons qu'il y ait tant de prêtres qui nous soutiennent positivement ou au moins ne nous mettent pas d'obstacles , mais d'un autre côté il y en a encore beaucoup d'autres , prêtres et membres de l'église qui disent haut et fort combien ils nous condamnent.
Ni le Pape ni le Cardinal Ratzinger ne disent rien contre nous malgré la sanction de l'excommunication. Nous continuerons à faire tout ce qui est en notre pouvoir, avec tant d'autres ,pour la reconnaissance des droits des femmes dans l'église et dans la société . Notre espoir , c'est de mieux travailler ensemble dans le futur , en reconnaissant que nous avons tous en fait les mêmes buts .
