N E W S L E T T E R
======================

1. WEIHNACHTEN 2004

7 Dekanate

CHRISTMAS 2004 2. LOOKING BACK ON 2004 3. THOSE IN THE PROGRAM OF PREPARATION FOR ORDINATION 4. LOOKING AHEAD TO 2005 5. MOVING OUT OF 'COLLECTIVE DEPRESSION' --------------------------------------------------------- N E W S L E T T E R ====================== 1. CHRISTMAS 2004 What do you think of, when you look back at this Christmas? Does something material come to mind: a new refrigerator or freezer, an electric saw or fan heater? Or do you think of a gift for your soul? Did your soul receive a gift this Christmas? Or, when you come to think of it ... did your soul express any kind of wish? If so, what? Not so easy, hmmm? Our soul is so reserved, so restrained. It does not shout, does not put itself forward, does not call out or complain. In fact, our soul leaves everything to us, to the person that each of us is. We think so little about our soul and we fulfil so many wishes of our bodies, our ambition and our will: so often they are material, pleasurable or even ostentatious wishes, aimed at making a good impression. But we easily forget about our soul. 2. LOOKING BACK ON 2004 For us RC Womenpriests, the year was once again a very dynamic and successful one. In June we ordained six new deacons, all of whom will be ordained to the priesthood in the near future. These women are from France, America, Canada, Latvia and Switzerland. This ordination aroused great interest and as a result, many more women have applied to join our program of preparation for ordination. 3. WOMEN IN OUR PROGRAM OF PREPARATION At present there are 52 women in this program, from many different countries. 4. LOOKING AHEAD TO 2005 We are planning three 'Catacomb' ordinations of women whose professional relationship with the RC Church does not allow them to risk a public ordination, and two public ordination ceremonies during the course of 2005. More about this in the next Newsletter. 5. MOVING OUT OF THE 'COLLECTIVE DEPRESSION' OF THE RC CHURCH IN EUROPE: Shortly before Christmas, a professor at Munich University gave a striking description of how he sees the Church in Europe at present: it is, he says, in a state of 'collective depression'. As we look around us, we have to admit he is right. Most of the office-bearers (priests and others) who have remained in the Church in Europe, seem to lack positive goals, happiness and joy. This naturally affects the people: in Munich, for instance, church attendance went down from 22,5% in 1970 to 13,9% in 2003. There are fewer and fewer Catholics: in 1979 the Archdiocese of Munich had 2,18 million members and at present there are 1,82 million who count themselves as Catholic, though not always 'practising'. Seven deaneries in the Munich area have been given up, several parishes are without a priest and the youth are simply not interested in the Church. As RC Womenpriests, we try (together with some exceptional male priests) to look beyond the shadows of the Church and to move resolutely forward. It is our desire that the Church would once again become, not only a spiritual oasis of justice and humanity, but also a centrepoint of culture, a place of art and music, where we become spiritually refreshed and revived on life's journey. It is to a Church such as this that we RC Womenpriests want to belong. And we believe that we Womenpriests could indeed fill the empty parishes and churches with life. We would like to move into the empty churches and bring, to the ever-weakening structures of the RC Church, a fresh wind and new ideas. 4-Perspectives 2005
5-Sortir de la « dépression générale »

1-NOEL 2004
