Liebe InteressentInnen und UnterstützerInnen,
wir sind von der Weihe am St.Lawrence-River zurückgekehrt und berichten
Ihnen in diesem NEWSLETTER von den Ereignissen. Im anschließenden
HIRTINNENBRIEF werden wir dann die Frage stellen:
Wie sieht heute eine Gemeinde aus?

Strahlendes Wetter tauchte den St.Lawrence-River, den Fluss zwischen
Kanada und USA, in wunderbares Licht, als sich am 25. Juli 2005
nachmittags um 3 Uhr die Weihekandidatinnen, die bereits geweihten
Diakoninnen und die angehenden Priesterinnen, mit den Diakoninnen, den
Priestern und Priesterinnen, den Bischöfinnen, den Frauen der
Ausbildungsgruppe, den zahlreichen Unterstützerinnen und Sympathisantinnen
der Women's Ordination und den Delegierten aus vielen Ländern der Welt
trafen. Hunderte von PhotographInnen, Kameramännern und -frauen,
JournalistInnen und ReporterInnen waren zur Ordination angereist und allen
war die Freude über dieses Ereignis anzusehen.
Als das Boot losfuhr, erklang indianischer Trommelwirbel mit dem Lied:
"Starke Frauen" und alle auf dem Schiff sangen kräftig mit. Es folgte
"Here I am..."und die Zeremonie begann. Das Schiff war bis auf den letzten
Platz gefüllt, Begleitboote fuhren nebenher und berichteten live von der
ersten rk Diakoninnen- und Priesterinnenweihe in Nordamerika.
Die Kandidatinnen wurden von ihren Freunden und Familien mit herzlichen
und bewegenden Worten vorgestellt: Wünsche und Schicksale wurden
transparent, Schmerz und Freude wurde sichtbar. In der Predigt wurde das
Schiff des Aufbruchs mit den Frauen an Bord mit dem festgelaufenen Schiff
der römischen Hierarchie verglichen: Hier die Menschen, die sich nach
Reformen sehnen und die unmittelbar für die Menschen da sein wollen, dort
die "schlafenden Matrosen", die nicht erkennen wollen, dass sich eine
Kirche fortwährend bewegen muss und dass sich Menschen nach einer
verständnisvollen Frauen integrierenden Kirche sehnen.
In der Mitte der Ordination legten sich die Kandidatinnen auf den Boden,
vorne und auf dem Gang nach hinten. Victoria Rue sagte, es war wunderbar,
so zwischen den Menschen zu liegen, nicht demütig vor einem Bischof, denn
gehorsam sollte keine der Frauen schwören, sondern mitten unter den
Menschen, die gekommen waren, um dabei zu sein.
Während der Handauflegung dann die vollkommene Stille. Tränen der Rührung
flossen über die Wangen vieler Neugeweihter und die Menschen aus der
Gemeinde, die die Hände auflegten, taten dies mit so einer Zärtlichkeit,
dass die Gemeinde zutiefst gerührt war.
Viele Priesterinnen und Priester aus anderen Kirchen waren zu dieser
Ordination gekommen, sie alle saßen im Altarraum: evangelisch neben
katholisch, amtierender Priester neben Priester ohne Amt, verheirateter
Ordenspriester neben seiner neu geweihten katholischen Priesterfrau. Es
war eine Freude diese Menschen zu sehen, eine Freude, die überging und die
die Herzen vieler Menschen ergriff.
Die Frauen hatten Wasser aus den verschiedenen Teilen der Welt
mitgebracht: Vom Atlantik genauso wie vom Pazifik, vom Han-River in Seoul,
von den österreichischen Seen, wie von der Donau. Dieses Wasser schütteten
sie zusammen in einen Krug und gossen das so vermengte Wasser in den
St.Lawrence-River als Zeichen der Gemeinsamkeit und des gemeinsamen
Eintretens für die Priesterinnenweihe von Frauen.
2. Reaktion des Erzbischofs von Kingston
----------------------------------------
Der Erzbischof von Kingston gab vor der Ordination und nach der Ordination
eine Erklärung heraus. In www.catholic.org ist darüber zu lesen:
"TORONTO (CNS) -- Though nine women will be ordained priests on a boat in
the St. Lawrence River in July, Canadian Archbishop Anthony Meagher of
Kingston said the ceremony will be neither Catholic nor an ordination.
"To attempt an ordination this way is to step outside the church. If
someone decides they don't want to be Catholic, there is nothing we can
do. There is no need for me to get out into a row boat and announce that
what they are doing is wrong," he said June 7.
At the same time, Archbishop Meagher said that as a protest the actions
have significance. "There is no doubt the church has to change. There has
to be more involvement of women in leadership and in decision-making," he
said. But staging an invalid ordination is not the way to do it, he said.
"I think there are more effective ways to protest," Archbishop Meagher said.
An association of approximately 14 groups is coordinating the ordination
ceremony under the name "Roman Catholic Womenpriests Program." The
ceremony will take place July 25 in the middle of the St. Lawrence River,
following a women's ordination conference July 22-24 at Carleton
University in Ottawa.
To avoid the jurisdiction of the Kingston Archdiocese and the Diocese of
Ogdensburg, N.Y., the organizers have rented a tour boat that will float
on the border between Canada and the United States. Among the nearly 500
seats available, 220 already have been purchased at a cost of US$85 each.
Archbishop Meagher said the jurisdiction is "irrelevant because there is
no ordination."
The July event will mark the first of its kind in North America. It is
modeled after a similar event that took place in 2002 on the Danube River,
between Germany and Austria, where seven women were ordained by a
schismatic bishop.
The women who took part in that ceremony were excommunicated by the
Vatican less than a month after the ceremony. Two of the women priests
have since been ordained "bishops" and will perform the St. Lawrence
ordinations.
Father Thomas Lynch, dean of studies at St. Augustine's Seminary in
Toronto, predicted the Vatican will respond quickly, as it did after the
Danube River incident. "Individuals who have sought this path before have
been excommunicated," he said. "There will likely be a public statement
from Rome for the sake of the faithful."
Victoria Rue, a candidate for the upcoming ordination, said the threat of
excommunication would not keep her from participating.
"I always felt no one could take my church away from me. If it
(excommunication) happens, it happens, but it is not anything that would
deter me," she said.
She said her desire to be ordained has to do with "understanding the
inclusiveness of all images of God."
After the ceremony, the women priests will have no parish and will make
only one vow of "co-authority," rather than obedience.
Another candidate, Michele Birch-Conery, 65, a former nun who lives on
Vancouver Island, will continue to teach feminist literary analysis at
North Island College while acting as a priest for anyone who calls.
"We could be called to the gay and lesbian community here on the island.
They might call me to do a blessing or marriage. I probably could become a
marriage commissioner for British Columbia," she said.
Birch-Conery said she would "present myself to the people as a Catholic
priest."
Father Lynch said the church teaching stipulating that the priesthood was
reserved for men is "not about women being less as persons."
"The church feels it has the right to only ordain men because it is a
tradition that has been given to us by the Lord himself, and has been
affirmed by the power of the Holy Spirit through the centuries," Father
Lynch said.
In any action of the sacraments, it is principally Christ who acts, and
only secondarily the priest. Christ's maleness, and by extension, the male
priesthood, keeps alive the nuptial symbolism that is so much a part of
biblical theology and Catholic worship, he said.
"Christ is the bridegroom of the church, and if a priest is ... to act in
the person of Christ, he must be male," Father Lynch said."

"The organizers of this event claim to be doing so in 'international
waters.' They will be leaving from and returning to Gananoque, which is in
the Archdiocese of Kingston. It is clear that this event does not have the
support of the Archdiocese. It is profoundly contrary to both the spirit
and the letter of the Church's law to attempt to create some geographical
ambiguity in an effort to legitimize one's failure to be in communion with
the local Church.
"It is obvious that women do much good in the Church, and it is inaccurate
to think that priestly ordination is the only route to working for the
spread of the Gospel. Lay men and lay women are equally called to sanctify
the worlds of work and family, and they do not need to be priests to do
so. We must ensure that there exist, in parishes and in the Church,
structures which enable women to exercise real leadership based on their
own special gifts, their unique awareness of people's needs and their
understanding of how best to address those needs.
"Finally, it is very important to acknowledge the good faith and integrity
of those who sincerely believe in the merit of this issue. While I cannot
accept their position, I appreciate their sincerity. "Jesus said, 'I will
be with you all days until the end of time.' May a spirit of trust in the
Lord and mutual respect mark this moment in the Church's history."

3. "kiss of the month"

Die "Motorsport-Mädchen" waren von der Ordination so begeistert, dass sie
ihren "kiss of the month", ihren "Kuss des Monats" an die Bischöfinnen
Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger und Gisela Forster, die schon 2002 bei
"den 7 Frauen der Donau - The Danube 7" waren und auch bei
der Ordination am St.Lawrence River. Danke den RaceGirls für diesen "kiss".

Nine Women Challenged the Vatican's Prohibition Against Women Priests this
past July, in defiance of the VATICANS refusal to ordain female priests.
These 9 Roman Catholic women participated in an ordination ceremony on
Monday, risking excommunication. The nine women were ordained by
unofficially ordained Bishops Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger and Gisela
Forster on a cruise ship off the coast of Canada. One of the women
ordained Monday, Regina Nicolosi, told the Associated Press that she
believes her ordination is \x{201C}\x{2026}valid even if it\x{2019}s against the law of the
Church, because [the Church\x{2019}s prohibition against women priests] is an
unjust law.\x{201D}
Mayr-Lumetzberger and Forster were among a group of seven Roman Catholic
women known as the \x{201C}Danube Seven\x{201D} who challenged the Catholic Church\x{2019}s
position against women priests in 2002. They were ordained through a
similar ordination ceremony performed on a boat on the Danube River
between Germany and Austria. Pope Benedict XVI (then Cardinal Ratzinger)
excommunicated all seven women, calling the women \x{201C}heretics\x{201D} and the
ordination ceremony \x{201C}a grave offense to the divine constitution of the
Church,\x{201D} according to the Associated Press."
4. WITNESS WAGON
-----------------
Bereits 10 Tage vor der Ordination fuhren Frauen aus verschiedenen
Teilen der Welt: aus Südafrika, Europa, Ungarn, Russland, Amerika und
Kanada unter Leitung von Judith Johnson mit einem Bus Historische Städte,
die für die Gleichberechtigung von Frauen von Bedeutung waren, ab:
Wunderbar war der Empfang der italienischen Fischerfrauen in Gloucester,
dann die Erinnerung an Elisabeth Stanton und Susan B. Antony in Seneca
Falls und schließlich das Treffen mit Mary Ramerman und Denise Donato in
Rochester. Überall ein herzlicher Empfang für den wir sehr danken.
5. WOW Konferenz
----------------
Etwa 400 Frauen waren zum Treffen der WOW Konferenz (Women's Ordination
Worldwide) nach Ottawa gekommen. Die Organisatorinnen von WOW unter der
hervorragenden Leitung von Marie Bouclin hatten
organisatorisch Herausragendes geleistet, um so ein großes Treffen
reibungslos stattfinden lassen zu können. Wie immer gab es bei WOW die
Kontroversen wie sich Frauen verhalten sollen, ob gehorsam gegenüber dem
Vatikan oder ein wenig ungehorsam.
Wunderbar war am Schluss der Segen, den die Mitglieder von WOC den Frauen,
die sich am nächsten Tag weihen lassen wollten, mit auf den Weg gaben.
Herzliche Dank hierfür.
6. IKETH
--------
Am 11.- 13. Juli 2005 trafen sich in der evangelischen Akademie
in Bad Boll bei Stuttgart Europäische Theologinnen aus den Religionen
Europas, im besonderen Theologinnen aus der christlichen (evangelischen
und katholischen) Kultur, aus der islamischen Kultur und aus der jüdischen
Kultur. Vertreterinnen der einzelnen Religionen berichteten über die
Interpretation ihrer Religion zur Schöpfung...und zwar ohne Vorwürfe, ohne
Hass, ohne Gram aufeinander und ohne den Anspruch gegen die Frau an der
Seite gewinnen zu müssen. Die Theologinnen verhielten sich vielmehr
interessiert an der Religion der anderen Frau, freuten sich über
Gemeinsamkeiten der einzelnen Religionen miteinander und bestaunten
Unterschiede.
Die Vereinigung der europäischen Theologinnen hat den Namen IKETH, d.h.
Interreligiöse Konferenz Europäischer Theologinnen. Die Konferenz ist die
gewaltfreie Antwort auf das aggressive Gegeneinander der meist von
männlichen Religionsführern dominierten gegenwärtigen Religionen.
Es ist vorgesehen, das PROJEKT IKETH auszudehnen und in anderen
Ländern auch IKETH-Vereinigungen entstehen zu lassen. Theologinnen aus der
christlichen, moslemischen oder jüdischen Kultur sind aufgerufen, sich

7. Kirche Von Unten
-------------------
Nach den jahrelangen Meinungsverschiedenheiten mit der KIRCHE von UNTEN
Deutschland, zeichnet sich nun Entspannung ab: Gerd Wild, langjähriger
Mitarbeiter der IKvU nahm an der Weihe in Frankreich von Genevieve Benney
teil und schrieb anschließend einen sehr unterstützenden Leserbrief, den
wir auszugsweise drucken:
"Der von der AP-Meldung vermittelte Eindruck, es handelte sich um eine
selbstherrliche Einzelaktion von Genevieve Beney, ist falsch. Falsch ist
auch, dass die mutige Neupriesterin aus der Kirche ausgeschlossen wird.
Die Priesterinnen werden exkommuniziert, das heißt von den Sakramenten
ausgeschlossen, um sie zu disziplinieren. Ein Ausschluss aus der Kirche ist
nach römisch-katholischem Kirchenrecht nicht möglich.
Bereits 1976 hat die Päpstliche Bibelkommission in einem Gutachten für
Papst Paul VI. festgestellt, dass sich der Ausschluss der Frauen vom
Priesteramt nicht aus dem Neuen Testament begründen lässt."

8. TERMINE
----------
Noch in Frankreich wurde die nächste Weihe von Frauen angedacht.
Termin wird voraussichtlich
Samstag, der 24. Juni 2006
sein, also wieder der Tag, an dem die männlichen Priesterkandidaten
geweiht werden. Ort ist voraussichtlich ein Boot auf einem See in der
Schweiz, denn am 24. Juni soll die erste Schweizerin zur rk Priesterin
geweiht werden.
Es wird wieder eine sehr friedliche Weihe sein und wir hoffen, dass
viele von Ihnen dabei sein werden.
9. AUSBILDUNGSGRUPPE
--------------------
Die Frauen der europäischen Ausbildungsgruppe treffen sich im September in
München. Freundlicherweise wurde uns von privaten Unterstützerinnen ein
billiges Quartier zur Verfügung gestellt. Wer noch an dem Treffen
teilnehmen möchte, möge sich bei der Leiterin der Ausbildungsgruppe Frau
Dr. Fresen melden.

II. H I R T I N N E N B R I E F
================================
T H E M A:
W I E S I E H T H E U T E E I N E G E M E I N D E A U S?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Am 25. Juli 2005 wurden 9 Frauen geweiht: 4 zu Priesterinnen und 5 zu
Diakoninnen. Es war eine Weihe voll Frieden, Glück und Freude. Die
beteiligten Frauen versicherten immer wieder, dass die Aktion
"non-violent" also eine vollkommen gewaltfreie Aktion ist. Dies wurde von
allen begleitenden Menschen sehr begrüßt und unterstützt.
Nur manchmal erschien eine leichte Trauer, dann, wenn die Mitwirkenden
daran dachten, dass die Amtskirche diesen wunderbaren Frauen keine
Gemeinde geben will. Was wären diese begabten Frauen für einfühlsame
Gemeindeseelsorgerinnen geworden, wenn man sie nur ließe, wenn man ihnen
die Pfarreien gäbe, die leerstehen, wenn man sie in die vielen verstaubten
Pfarrhäuser einziehen ließe, in denen schon vor Jahren der Pfarrer
verschwand...
Wir wissen, es ist ein Traum, dass wir Frauen die Pfarrhäuser bekommen
könnten, viele Pfarrhäuser werden weiterhin leer bleiben und die bei der
Amtskirche gebliebenen wunderbaren Pfarrer müssen unter großem
Arbeitsaufwand mehrere Pfarrgemeinden im Eiltempo verwalten und
mit der Kommunion in der Hand im Laufschritt von Gemeinde zu Gemeinde
eilen: das ist die Realität, die die rk Kirche seit vielen Jahren so will.
Wir Priesterinnen sind bereit und haben Kraft. Aber wir stehen nicht
regungslos am Rande: Viele Menschen haben schon erkannt, dass es uns
Priesterinnen gibt und sie laden uns zu einem Miteinander, zu Sakramenten
und zu spirituellen Gesprächen. Das neue Bild der "GEMEINDE" ist nicht so
wie gewohnt, es ergibt sich nicht das klassische Bild: Dorfkirche und
rundherum die Häuser mit den Menschen, die der Pfarrer unter sich hat,
sondern Gemeinde im gegenwärtigen Sinne, das ist die informelle Gruppe der
Menschen, die eine Priesterin genauso wie einen Priester suchen: Es sind
die Kinder in der Schule, egal ob die Priesterin Religion oder Erdkunde
unterrichtet, es sind die Jugendlichen, die die eigenen Kindern mit nach
Hause bringen, es sind die Arbeitskolleginnen und -kollegen, egal ob in
der Universität, im Krankenhaus oder Altersheim, es sind die vielen
Menschen, die aus Enttäuschung der rk Kirche den Rücken zugewandt haben,
die sich aber in ihrem Inneren nach einer verständnisvollen Kirche sehnen,
es sind die Ausgestoßenen, die von der rk Kirche Verachteten, die
gekündigten kirchlichen Mitarbeiter, die nicht erwünschten
Wiederverheirateten Geschiedenen, die jungen Frauen, die aus der Kirche
verwiesen wurden, weil sie eine vernünftige Geburtenplanung wollen und es
sind die verantwortungsvollen Menschen, die ein Ja zu Kondomen sagen, weil
sie mit den Regierungen der Welt darin eine Chance sehen, die Menschen
nicht der Krankheit AIDS auszuliefern. In den Gemeinden heute sind auch
die Menschen aus anderen Religionen, die sich nicht länger sagen lassen
wollen, dass nur die rk Kirche die Alleingültigkeit besitzt, es sind die
ökumenisch denkenden Evangelischen Christen und die die Menschenrechte
achtenden Religionsangehörigen der Weltreligionen. In unseren Gemeinden
sind die verheirateten Priester und ihre Familien, es sind die von der rk
Amtskirche verstoßenen Priesterkinder und die vielen Jugendlichen, die
sich von der amtierenden rk Kirche nicht mehr verstanden fühlen.
Einige von uns Priesterinnen haben schon eine so beschriebene Gemeinde,
z.B. teilt eine Priesterin jeden Sonntag in einem Park ein Frühstück an
Obdachlose aus und feiert im Anschluss mit Ihnen die Messe. Hunderte von
Menschen kommen zu diesen Treffen am Sonntagvormittag. Andere
Priesterinnen haben ein spirituelles Zentrum, wo die Menschen auf die
Ordination der Priesterin bereits seit Jahren gewartet haben. Jugendliche
und auch amtierende Priester laden die neugeweihten Frauen zum Miteinander
und zur Konzelebration ein. Krankenhausseelsorgerinnen können nicht nur
den kranken Menschen zuhören, sondern mit ihnen auch Gemeinde bilden. All
das ist Gemeinde, moderne Gemeinde, eine Gemeinde, die sich selbst eine
Priesterin wünscht und sie sucht. Die Gemeindemitglieder nehmen
diejenigen Frauen und Männer als Leiterinnen in ihre Mitte, die bereit
sind, mit ihnen zu kommunizieren.
So leben unsere neu geweihten Priesterinnen in lebendigen Gemeinden, auch
wenn der Vatikan die Pfarrhäuser für Frauen noch verschließt. Noch...denn
wir hoffen, dass der Vatikan die Pfarrhäuser bald für Priesterinnen öffnen
wird...

1. ORDINATIONS ON THE ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY
Glorious weather bathed the St Lawrence Seaway - between Canada and the
U.S. - in wonderful, sparkling light, as the procession made its way
down the street in Gananoque to the quayside.
It was early afternoon on July 25, 2005 as the five candidates for the
diaconate, the four deacons who would be ordained to the priesthood, the
three ordaining women bishops, other priests and ministers, women in our
program of preparation for priesthood and a host of family members,
friends, guests and supporters of women's ordination streamed excitedly
towards the water's edge to await the arrival of the ship on which the
ordination would take place. There was also a swarm of photographers,
journalists and reporters present, who had travelled from all over
Canada and the U.S. as well from other countries to ask for interviews,
take pictures and report on this historical occasion.
As the ceremony began, a Native American woman from the Algonquin
tribe led the community with drumming and the chanting of "Strong
Women". We then broke into "Here I am ..." for the entrance procession
and the ceremony began. The ship was filled to capacity and there were
several smaller boats accompanying us, from which media people were
reporting live on the ordination of the first R.C. womendeacons and
-priests to be publicly ordained in North America.
Each candidate for the diaconate or priesthood was movingly introduced
by a family member (in several cases the husband, two of whom are
priests themselves) or friend, who said why he or she thought this
candidate should be ordained. The pain and the joy of these moments
could be clearly read on people's faces. In the homily, there was a
comparison drawn between the ship of the Church with the women aboard at
last, together with all who long for reform in the Church - and the
older model of the ship of the Church, safely at anchor in the harbour
and filled with sleeping sailors who ignore the fact that a ship is
built to sail out onto the high seas, to move forward, to take people to
where they need and want and ought to go.
Then came the solemn moment, while the litany of the saints was sung,
when the candidates prostrated themselves on the floor, across the front
and right down the middle aisle to the back. Victoria Rue said it was
wonderful to be lying there among the people, not humbly prostrate
before a bishop - to whom these women made no promise of obedience -
but rather there among the people for whose service these women were
being ordained.
During the laying-on of hands, which is the core moment of ordination
and is done in total silence, tears flowed freely, both among some of
the ordinands and the people present, who were invited to come forward
and to participate in the ordination by their own laying-on of hands.
There were many priests and ministers there from other traditions and as
many as possible were invited to sit up front with the leading
celebrants. This is true to our ecumenical vision.
The ordinands and the bishops had brought with them small bottles of
water from wherever they live or have recently been: from the Atlantic
and the Pacific, from the waters of Vancouver in British Columbia and
the rivers and lakes of the U.S.A., from the Han River in Seoul, from
the Austrian Alps, the Isar and the Danube. All these were poured into
one bowl, which was later emptied into the St Lawrence river as a symbol
of our togetherness as a womenpriests' community and of our coming into
the North American continent.

2. REACTION OF THE ARCHBISHOP OF KINGSTON (in which Gananoque is
situated, where we embarked for the ordination). This statement can be

"TORONTO (CNS) -- Though nine women will be ordained priests on a boat
in the St. Lawrence River in July, Canadian Archbishop Anthony Meagher
of Kingston said the ceremony will be neither Catholic nor an ordination.
"To attempt an ordination this way is to step outside the church. If
someone decides they don't want to be Catholic, there is nothing we can
do. There is no need for me to get out into a row boat and announce that
what they are doing is wrong," he said June 7.
At the same time, Archbishop Meagher said that as a protest the actions
have significance. "There is no doubt the church has to change. There
has to be more involvement of women in leadership and in
decision-making," he said. But staging an invalid ordination is not the
way to do it, he said. "I think there are more effective ways to
protest," Archbishop Meagher said.
An association of approximately 14 groups is coordinating the ordination
ceremony under the name "Roman Catholic Womenpriests Program." The
ceremony will take place July 25 in the middle of the St. Lawrence
River, following a women's ordination conference July 22-24 at Carleton
University in Ottawa.
To avoid the jurisdiction of the Kingston Archdiocese and the Diocese of
Ogdensburg, N.Y., the organizers have rented a tour boat that will float
on the border between Canada and the United States. Among the nearly 500
seats available, 220 already have been purchased at a cost of US$85 each.
Archbishop Meagher said the jurisdiction is "irrelevant because there is
no ordination."
The July event will mark the first of its kind in North America. It is
modeled after a similar event that took place in 2002 on the Danube
River, between Germany and Austria, where seven women were ordained by a
schismatic bishop.
The women who took part in that ceremony were excommunicated by the
Vatican less than a month after the ceremony. Two of the women priests
have since been ordained "bishops" and will perform the St. Lawrence
ordinations.
Father Thomas Lynch, dean of studies at St. Augustine's Seminary in
Toronto, predicted the Vatican will respond quickly, as it did after the
Danube River incident. "Individuals who have sought this path before
have been excommunicated," he said. "There will likely be a public
statement from Rome for the sake of the faithful."
Victoria Rue, a candidate for the upcoming ordination, said the threat
of excommunication would not keep her from participating.
"I always felt no one could take my church away from me. If it
(excommunication) happens, it happens, but it is not anything that would
deter me," she said.
She said her desire to be ordained has to do with "understanding the
inclusiveness of all images of God."
After the ceremony, the women priests will have no parish and will make
only one vow of "co-authority," rather than obedience.
Another candidate, Michele Birch-Conery, 65, a former nun who lives on
Vancouver Island, will continue to teach feminist literary analysis at
North Island College while acting as a priest for anyone who calls.
"We could be called to the gay and lesbian community here on the island.
They might call me to do a blessing or marriage. I probably could become
a marriage commissioner for British Columbia," she said.
Birch-Conery said she would "present myself to the people as a Catholic
priest."
Father Lynch said the church teaching stipulating that the priesthood
was reserved for men is "not about women being less as persons."
"The church feels it has the right to only ordain men because it is a
tradition that has been given to us by the Lord himself, and has been
affirmed by the power of the Holy Spirit through the centuries," Father
Lynch said.
In any action of the sacraments, it is principally Christ who acts, and
only secondarily the priest. Christ's maleness, and by extension, the
male priesthood, keeps alive the nuptial symbolism that is so much a
part of biblical theology and Catholic worship, he said.
"Christ is the bridegroom of the church, and if a priest is ... to act
in the person of Christ, he must be male," Father Lynch said."

of Kingston, Ontario:
"The organizers of this event claim to be doing so in 'international
waters.' They will be leaving from and returning to Gananoque, which is
in the Archdiocese of Kingston. It is clear that this event does not
have the support of the Archdiocese. It is profoundly contrary to both
the spirit and the letter of the Church's law to attempt to create some
geographical ambiguity in an effort to legitimize one's failure to be in
communion with the local Church.
"It is obvious that women do much good in the Church, and it is
inaccurate to think that priestly ordination is the only route to
working for the spread of the Gospel. Lay men and lay women are equally
called to sanctify the worlds of work and family, and they do not need
to be priests to do so. We must ensure that there exist, in parishes and
in the Church, structures which enable women to exercise real leadership
based on their own special gifts, their unique awareness of people's
needs and their understanding of how best to address those needs.
"Finally, it is very important to acknowledge the good faith and
integrity of those who sincerely believe in the merit of this issue.
While I cannot accept their position, I appreciate their sincerity.
"Jesus said, 'I will be with you all days until the end of time.' May a
spirit of trust in the Lord and mutual respect mark this moment in the
Church's history."

4. WITNESS WAGON
Ten days before the ordination, women from various countries made a
unique pilgrimage by bus to places in the U.S. and Canada made famous by
women who struggled for women's rights and dignity. Led by Judith
Johnson, the pilgrimage started in Washington D.C., travelled through
Baltimore and Maryland, then through Philadelphia and New York to
Boston. A wonderful evening was spent in Gloucester with a group of
(mostly) Sicilian Fishermen's Wives who offered their hospitality to the
Witness Wagon participants and during which many women shared their
remarkable stories. From there, the bus travelled to Seneca Falls and
Rochester, where the group visited the women's museum in Seneca Falls
and Susan B. Anthony's house in Rochester. Here again, they were
welcomed most graciously by the women of Rochester and many moving and
inspiring personal stories were heard as everyone gathered for afternoon
tea. New contacts were made and amazingly strong support was expressed
for women's ordination. Finally, the Witness Wagon group was warmly
welcomed by the Spiritus Christi community who offered them a meal and
then everyone gathered for the celebration of Eucharist with Mary
Ramerman, Denise Donato and the Spiritus Christi community in what was a
beautiful, participative liturgical celebration. A most memorable occasion.
The bus then crossed the Canadian border and drove to Ottawa where the
group was enthusiastically welcomed by the Canadian WOW team, hosting
committee and others at the shrine of the 'Famous Five' - women who had
struggled for and obtained the suffrage for women in Canada. Thus the
Witness Wagon pilgrimage ended on a glorious high note in Ottawa.
We thank Judith Johnson and all the women who participated in the
pilgrimage, as well as all who met, welcomed and refreshed the pilgrims
along the way, and to all the women who shared their stories and showed
their support for the ongoing struggle for women's rights, including
women's ordination.
5. WOW CONFERENCE
About 400 women gathered at Carleton University in Ottawa for the WOW
Conference. Marie Bouclin and the hosting committee did an excellent
job of organizing this mammoth conference and we thank them for making
it happen. During the conference, the inevitable controversies arose
regarding the different ways of working towards women's ordination:
trying to bring about change legally or going the 'contra legem' route.
For us, it was a blessed time. Many new contacts were made and many
women at the conference enquired about or asked to join our program of
preparation for priesthood. We very much appreciated, on the Sunday,
WOC's blessing of the women who were to be ordained the next day and we
thank all those who participated in this blessing. The Conference ended
with a beautiful liturgical celebration.

6. IKETH (Interreligious Conference of European Women Theologians)
This group (of which Christine, Gisela and Patricia are members) met in
Bad Ball near Stuttgart from 11 - 13 July. The women there included
Christian, Roman Catholic, Muslim and Jewish women theologians. The
theme was 'Creation' and this was discussed in a climate of mutual
respect, of real listening to one another, of an appreciation of what we
have in common as well as of differences in our various theological
traditions. IKETH is a non-violent response to the immense violence we
experience today from many male religious leaders. The newly-elected
president of IKETH is a Muslim woman theologian, Rabeya Müller.

9. NEXT ORDINATIONS IN EUROPE
The next ordinations in Europe are being planned for SATURDAY 24 JULY
2006. The ceremony will probably take place on a ship on one of the
lakes in Switzerland, because the first Swiss woman, Monika Wyss, will
be ordained a priest. There will probably be some other priestly and
diaconate ordinations during the same ceremony. We hope many of you,
especially those of you who live in Europe, will note the date and will
be able to be present.

THEME: C O M M U N I T Y A N D M I N I S T R Y
WHAT DOES A PRESENT-DAY COMMUNITY LOOK LIKE?
On 25 July nine women were ordained on the St Lawrence, four as priests
and five as deacons. It was an ordination filled with hope, happiness
and joy.
Many people are sad, however, that the official Church will not allow
any of these women to minister in a parish community. Can you imagine
what would happen if these gifted, wonderful women could go into the
parishes where the priests are often old and tired, or where there is no
longer any priest? But this is still a dream, because the official
Church chooses to have many overworked, worn-out priests who must often
minister to five or six parishes, rather than admit women to ordination.
Women may serve as parish administrators - and many of them do this
extremely well - but for Eucharist and the other sacraments, they have
to call in a male priest. Officially women are allowed, and even called
upon, to do everything except the priestly things. They are to be
excluded from ordination at all costs - and the cost, for the people,
for the Church, is very high.
We womenpriests are ready, however, and we have our gifts and our
energy. Many people recognize this and we find that, once people know
that we have been ordained (and even beforehand), a community starts to
form around us. People approach us, for Eucharist, for confession, to
anoint the sick and dying, for baptisms and weddings and funerals, for
personal counselling and consultation and spiritual help. In our
globalized world, the concept of community is changing, in society at
large, in religious life and also in parish communities. People who
form a community no longer need to live together in one place: they can
choose to come together because they have a shared vision and find ways
together of making this vision a reality. We find that, wherever we are
in our workplaces, people seek us out, whether it in the office or in a
school or college or university, a hospital or home of retirement, with
the youth or with the elderly, people approach us, individually or in
groups. Many marginalized people come to us, whether they are
marginalized by sexism or racism or classism, whether they feel
unwelcome in the Church because they are divorced and remarried, or
because they are married priests or because of their sexual orientation,
or because of their decisions about birth control, or about the use of
condoms for those living with AIDS, or because of their poverty. Many
youth (except the growing number of conservative, retrogressive youth)
are completely disillusioned about the Church and become apathetic: the
Church, they believe, has nothing to say to them, nothing to offer them.
Yet they very often come to us. People from other Christian traditions
and from other religious traditions also come to us and we welcome them
in a spirit of ecumenism and of interreligious dialogue.
Several of our newly-ordained priests and deacons, and even other women
in the program who are not yet ordained, are already recognized and
accepted by a community who discerns the priestly gifts of ministry in
these women. As they become ordained, first as deacons and then as
priests, the ministry of these women grows in a natural curve and is
able to become more and more directly sacramental because of ordination.
FEDERATION OF CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES
In the U.S.A., an invaluable help is to be certified for ministry
through the Federation of Christian ministries. We encourage the women
in our program in the U.S. and Canada to become certified through FCM.

assemble community and to support human services. Certification further

and men to act on its behalf. The legal witnessing of marriages and
other pastoral care acitivites can be fulfilled by certified members and
various forms of ministries can be affirmed.

La lettre pastorale traite de la communauté et du ministère.
1-ORDINATIONS sur le Saint Laurent
L'estuaire du Saint Laurent -entre Canada et U.S.A.-baignait dans une merveilleuse
lumière étincelante par un temps magnifique lorsque la procession descendit la rue
de Gananoque vers le quai. C'était en début d'après midi , le 25 Juillet 2005 et
les cinq candidates au diaconat , les quatre diacres qui allaient être ordonnées
prêtres , les trois femmes évêques qui allaient procéder aux ordinations , d'autres
prêtres et ministres , les femmes de notre cycle de préparation et une foule de
membres des familles , amis , invités et partisans de l'ordination des femmes
formaient un courant impatient vers la berge pour attendre le bateau à bord duquel
l'ordination allait se dérouler. Il y avait aussi unn essaim de photographes , de
journalistes et reporters qui venaient des U.S.A. du Canada et d'autres pays pour
rendre compte de cet événement historique .
Au début de la cérémonie une Américaine d' origine Algonquin entraîna la communauté
pour chanter et rythmer « Strong women » . Puis nous avons entonné « me voici »
pour la procession d'entrée .Le bateau était rempli et plusieurs petits bateaux
suivaient avec les gens des médias qui filmaient en direct l'ordination des premières
femmes catholiques romaines au diaconat et à la prêtrise en public en Amérique du Nord .
Un membre de la famille ( le mari dans plusieurs cas , deux d'entre eux étant prêtres
eux- mêmes ) présentait avec beaucoup d'émotion chaque candidate ou c'était un/e ami/e ,
disant pourquoi , à son avis , on devait ordonner cette candidate.
Souffrance et joie se peignaient sur les visages . Dans l'homélie on compara deux
modèles de bateau symbolisant l' Eglise , celui-ci avec enfin les femmes à bord,
avec ce/lles/ux qui aspirent à réformer l'église - et le vieux modèle à l'ancre et à
l'abri dans le port , rempli de marins endormis qui ne veulent pas savoir qu' un
bateau est fait pour naviguer en haute mer , pour avancer , pour emmener les gens
où ils ont besoin , désir et devoir d'aller.
Ce fut ensuite le moment solennel de la litanie des Saints, avec les candidates
prosternées dans l'allée centrale jusqu'au fond. Victoria Rue remarqua que c'était
très bien d'être ainsi parmi la foule , non devant un évêque à qui ces femmes ne
promettent pas obéissance- mais plutôt parmi ces personnes au service desquelles
les femmes sont ordonnées .
Pendant l'imposition des mains , qui est le moment central de l'ordination ,
complétement en silence , des larmes d'émotion coulèrent aussi bien chez les
ordinantes que dans le public qui était invité à se joindre au geste de l'imposition
des mains .
Etaient présents beaucoup de prêtres et ministres d'autres traditions et ils furent
invités aussi nombreux que possible à se placer devant avec les principaux célébrants
en conformité avec notre vision de l' ?cuménisme.
Les ordinantes et les évêques avaient apporté de petites bouteilles d'eau en
provenance de leur lieu de vie ou de leurs voyages récents : de l' Atlantique , du
Pacifique , de Vancouver en Colombie Britannique , des fleuves et lacs des U.S.A.,
du fleuve Han de Séoul , des Alpes Autrichiennes :de l'Isar et du Danube . On versa
tout dans un récipient qui fut ensuite vidé dans le Saint Laurent en signe d'unité de
notre communauté de femmes pour le ministère et de notre présence sur le continent
Nord Américain .
2. REACTION DE L' ARCHEVËQUE DE KINGSTON (Gananoque , où nous avons embarqué pour
l'ordination est situé dans son diocèse ) Cette déclaration se trouve sur
www.catholic.org:

scène une ordination invalide n'est pas la bonne façon d'y arriver ,at-il dit. "je
pense qu'il y a des manières plus efficaces de protester,"

Victoria Rue , une candidate à la prochaine ordination, a indiqué que la menace de
l'excommunication ne l'empêcherait pas de participer.
"j' ai toujours eu le sentiment que personne ne pourrait me séparer de mon église .
Si elle (l'excommunication) se produit, elle se produit, mais ce n'est pas cela qui
me découragera, " a-t-elle dit.
Pour elle , son désir d'être ordonnée est en relation avec la compréhension que

Après la cérémonie, les femmes prêtres n'auront aucune paroisse et feront seulement
un voeu de "Co-autorité," plutôt que d'obéissance.
Une autre candidate, Michele Birch-Conery, 65 ans , une ex-religieuse qui vit
sur l'île de Vancouver, continuera à enseigner l'analyse littéraire féministe
à North Island College tout en agissant en tant que prêtre pour ce/lles/ux qui
feront appel à elle
"nous pourrions être appelées par la communauté gaie et lesbienne ici sur l'île.
Ils pourraient m'appeler pour faire une bénédiction ou un mariage. Je pourrais
devenir probablement un commissaire de mariage pour la Colombie britannique,
" a -t- elle dit.
Birch-Conery a indiqué qu'elle "se présenterait aux gens en tant que prêtre
catholique."
Le Père Lynch a dit que l' enseignement de l' église stipulant que le sacerdoce
était réservé aux hommes ne signifie pas que « les femmes sont inférieures en
tant que personnes."
"l'église pense qu' elle a le droit d'ordonner seulement des hommes parce que
c'est une tradition qui nous a été donnée par le Seigneur lui-même, et a été
affirmée par la puissance de l'Esprit Saint à travers les siècles," dit Père
Lynch.
Dans n'importe quelle action des sacrements, c'est principalement le Christ
qui agit, et seulement secondairement le prêtre. La masculinité du Christ, et
par extension, le sacerdoce masculin, garde vivant le symbolisme nuptial qui
est tellement ancré dans la théologie biblique et dans le culte catholique,dit -il.
Le Christ est l' époux de l'église, et si un prêtre doit... agir en la personne
du Christ, il faut qu'il soit masculin," a dit le Père Lynch.

Après les ordinations , l'archevêque de Kingston a fait une déclaration à la
presse dont le dernier paragraphe est particulièrement significatif :
En voici des extraits :
« les organisateur/trice/s de cet événement revendiquent d'être dans des
« eaux internationales» ; Le départ et le retour se feront à Gananoque , qui
est dans le diocèse de Kingston . Il est clair que le diocèse n'appuie pas cet
événement . C'est profondément contraire à la fois à l'esprit et à la lettre
de la loi de l'église d'essayer de créer une ambigüité géographique pour
s'efforcer de légitimer son échec à être en communion avec l'église locale .
C'est évident que les femmes font beaucoup de bien dans l'église et c'est
inexact de penser que l'ordination sacerdotale est le seul chemin pour travailler
à répandre l'Evangile .
Les laïcs ,hommes et femmes sont également appelés à sanctifier les mondes du travail
et de la famille ,et n'ont pas besoin d'être prêtres pour cela.
Il nous faut assurer qu'il existe dans les paroisses et dans l'Eglise , des structures
qui permettent aux femmes d'exercer une véritable autorité basée sur leurs dons
spécifiques , leur capacité unique à prendre conscience des besoins des gens et leur
compréhension de la meilleure façon de les prendre en compte.
Enfin , c'est important de reconnaître la bonne foi et l'honnêteté de ceux qui croient
sincèrement à l'importance de cette cause .Bien que je ne puisse accepter leur
position , j' apprécie leur sincérité.
Jésus a dit « je serai avec vous toujours jusqu'à la fin des temps »
Puisse un esprit de confiance dans le Seigneur et de respect mutuel caractériser ce
moment de l'histoire de l'Eglise . »

les chanteu/ses/rs, si bien dirigé/e/s par Ginny Grimes Allen;aux ordinantes
elles-mêmes qui ont tant fait pour se préparer à la cérémonie , aux deux animateurs
liturgiques et à tou/te/s ce/lles/ux qui sont venu/e/s pour aider à faire de cette
ordination une si belle cérémonie historique .
4. Le bus du témoignage
Dix jours avant l' ordination , des femmes de différents pays ont fait un
pélerinage original en se rendant en bus dans des lieux du Canada et des U.S.A.
rendus célèbres par des femmes qui ont lutté pour la dignité et les droits des
femmes . Conduit par Judith Johnson,le pèlerinage a commencé à Washington D.C.,
traversé Baltimore et le Maryland puis par Philadelphie et New York il a gagné Boston.
Pendant une soirée remarquable à Gloucester, un groupe de Femmes de Pêcheurs
Siciliens (en majorité ) a offert l'hospitalité aux participantes du Bus et elles
ont partagé leurs intéressants récits .De là , le Bus s'est rendu à Seneca Falls
et Rochester où le groupe a visité le Musée des femmes à Seneca Falls et la maison
de Susan B. Anthony à Rochester.Là encore l' accueil par les femmes de Rochester
fut très aimable et l'on entendit beaucoup d' histoires personnelles émouvantes et
toniques autour d'une tasse de thé .On fit de nouvelles connaissances et l'ordination
des femmes reçut un soutien aussi fort qu'inattendu .Enfin la communauté Spiritus
Christi accueillit chaleureusement le Bus :après le repas tout le monde se rassembla
pour célébrer l'Eucharistie avec Mary Ramerman, Denise Donato et la communauté Spiritus
Christi ; ce fut une très belle célébration liturgique encourageant la participation ,
un événement mémorable .
Ensuite, le bus traversa la frontière canadienne et se dirigea vers Ottawa où il
fut accueilli avec enthousiasme par l'équipe dirigeante de WOW Canada , le
comité d'accueil et d'autres au monument aux « Famous Five » -les cinq femmes qui
se sont battues pour obtenir le droit de vote pour les femmmes au Canada .
Ainsi le pèlerinage du Bus du Témoignage prit fin sur une haute note de gloire à
Ottawa.Merci à Judith Johnson et à toutes celles qui ont participé au pèlerinage
ainsi qu' à celles qui ont accueilli , nourri les participantes ,celles qui ont
partagé leurs histoires et montré leur soutien pour le combat qui continue pour les
droits des femmes ,y compris l'ordination des femmes .
5. CONGRES DE WOW
A l'université Carleton d'Ottawa se sont réunies environ 400 femmes pour le congrès
de WOW .Marie Bouclin et le comité d'accueil ont accompli un superbe travail en
organisant cet énorme congrès et nous les en remercions. Pendant le congrès
femmes se sont manifestées :essayer d'amener un changement par les voies
légales ou prendre l' itinéraire « contra legem » .Ce fut pour nous un temps
de bénédiction . Nous avons pris de nombreux contacts et beaucoup de femmes
présentes se sont renseignées ou ont demandé à s'inscrire à notre cycle de
préparation au ministère.
Le Dimanche les femmes qui allaient être ordonnées le lendemain ont reçu la
bénédiction de WOW , ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié, et nous remercions
toutes celles qui y ont participé .Le congrès s'est achevé sur une belle célébration
liturgique.
6. IKETH (Conférence interreligieuse des théologiennes d'Europe)
Ce groupe (dont font partie Christine, Gisela et Patricia ) s'est réuni à
Bad Ball près de Stuttgart du 11 -au 13 Juillet. Il y avait là des théologiennes
Chrétiennes , Catholiques Romaines , Musulmanes et Juives .
Le thème était « la création » et les discussions se passèrent dans un climat de
respect mutuel , de réelle écoute , d'intérêt pour ce que nous avons en commun
comme pour les différences de nos diverses traditions théologiques . IKETH est
une réponse non violente à l'immense violence exercée de nos jours par de nombreux
chefs religieux masculins. La présidente nouvellement élue de l'IKETH est une
théologienne musulmane , Rabeya Müller.
7. « BISOU DU MOIS » (un encouragement inattendu !)
Les « Motardes » d'Allemagne (Motorsport-Mädchen) ont apprécié les récentes
ordinations au point de décerner leur « bisou du mois » aux évêques Christine
Mayr-Lumetzberger et Gisela Forster qui ont été ordonnées prêtres sur le Danube
en 2003
et ont maintenant ordonné d'autres femmes sur le Saint Laurent . Dans leur
magazine Racegirl, elles expliquent : « bien que Racegirl soit entièrement
consacré au sports de la moto , ces femmes méritent notre « bisou du mois »
pour leur engagement en faveur de l'égalité des chances pour les femmes . »

8. 'KIRCHE VON UNTEN' (L'église d'en bas) soutient Genevieve Beney
Après plusieurs années de différences d'opinion entre 'Kirche von
Unten',(Allemagne ) et nous , ce fut réconfortant de lire la défense de Genevieve
Beney écrite par Gerd Wild. Gerd est depuis longtemps membre de 'Kirche von
Unten' et il assistait à l' ordination de Geneviève le 2 Juillet à Lyon.
Il répond à un article largement répandu en disant qu'il n'est pas vrai qu'elle
s'est ordonnée elle-même ni qu'elle a été renvoyée de l' Eglise . Même si elle
est excommuniée ce qui n'est pas le cas , explique Wild , l' excommunication
n'est pas la fin de l'appartenance à l'Eglise , mais une punition à l'égard des
membres de l' Eglise pour leur apprendre la discipline . On ne peut pas en fait
être exclu de l' Eglise , une fois qu'on est baptisé. Wild ajoute que dans les
années 1979 , la Commission Pontificale de la Bible a noté dans un rapport pour
le Pape Paul VI que l'exclusion des femmes de la prêtrise ne trouvait aucune
justification dans le Nouveau Testament .

9.LES PROCHAINES ORDINATIONS EN EUROPE
Les prochaines ordinations en Europe sont prévues le SAMEDI 24 JUILLET 2006 .
La cérémonie se déroulera sans doute à bord d'un bateau sur un des lacs suisses
car la première femme en Suisse à être ordonnée prêtre, Monika Wyss en fera partie.
Il y aura sans doute d'autres ordinations diaconales et sacerdotales pendant cette cérémonie.Nous espérons que beaucoup d'entre vous en particulier ce/lles/ux qui vivent en Europe vont noter la date et pourront être présent/e/s

Les Européennes de notre cycle de préparation se retrouveront à Munich du 23
au 25 Septembre .Si quelqu'un n'a pas été avisée et voudrait participer qu'elle

A quoi ressemble une communauté aujourd'hui ?
Le 25 Juillet ,neuf femmes ont été ordonnées sur le Saint Laurent , quatre comme
prêtres
et cinq comme diacres . Cette ordination était joyeuse, heureuse et pleine d'espoir.
Cependant beaucoup de personnes se sont attristées de ce que l' église officielle
n'autorisera aucune de ces femmes à accomplir leur ministère dans une communauté
paroissiale . Imaginez que ces femmes comblées de dons puissent exercer dans les
paroisses où les prêtres sont souvent vieux et fatigués ou celles où il n'y a plus
de prêtre ? Mais ceci est encore un rêve , puisque l'Eglise officielle choisit
d'avoir des prêtres surchargés , épuisés qui doivent s'occuper de 5 ou 6 paroisses
plutôt que d'admettre les femmes à l'ordination.
Des femmes s'occupent de l'administration paroissiale-et beaucoup le font très
bien-mais pour l'Eucharistie et les autres sacrements elles doivent faire appel
à un prêtre masculin . Officiellement , les femmes sont autorisées et même
priées de faire tout sauf ce qui revient au prêtre . On les exclut de l'ordination
à tout prix , et ce prix , pour le peuple, pour l'Eglise , est très élevé .
Cependant, nous les femmes prêtres sommes prêtes avec nos charismes et notre énergie.
Beaucoup de gens le reconnaissent et nous nous apercevons qu'une fois que l'on sait
que nous avons été ordonnées ( et même avant ) une communauté commence à se former
autour de nous . Les gens nous demandent Eucharistie , confession , onction des
malades et des mourants , baptêmes, mariages et enterrements , conseil et aide
personnels et spirituels . Dans notre monde globalisé , le concept de communauté
change , dans la société en général , dans la vie religieuse , et aussi en ce
qui concerne les communautés paroissiales.Pour former une communauté , il n'est
plus nécessaire de vivre ensemble au même endroit : les personnes peuvent décider
de se réunir parce qu'ils partagent une vision du monde et trouvent ensemble les
moyens de la faire se réaliser . Nous expérimentons que là où nous travaillons, que
ce soit au bureau , à l'école ,au lycée , à l'université à l'hôpital , dans une
maison de retraite , avec les jeunes ou les vieux , les gens nous recherchent ,
prennent contact , individuellement ou en groupe.
Il y a beaucoup de gens marginalisés parmi eux , que ce soit pour des raisons de
classe , de race , de sexe ; certain/e/s ne se sentent pas accueillis dans l'église
parce qu'elle/il/s sont divorcé/e/s et remarié/e/s , qu'ils sont prêtres mariés
ou à cause de leur orientation sexuelle , ou pour leurs décisions dans le contrôle
des naissances ,dans l'usage du préservatif pour ceux qui ont le sida , ou parce
qu'ils sont pauvres . Beaucoup de jeunes ( à part le nombre croissant de jeunes
conservateurs régressifs ) ont perdu toute illusion sur l' Eglise et deviennent
indifférents : l'Eglise , croient-ils , n'a rien à leur dire , rien à leur offrir .
Cependant , ils viennent très souvent nous rencontrer.
Des membres d'autres traditions chrétiennes ou religieuses viennent aussi à notre
rencontre et nous les accueillons dans un esprit d'?cuménisme et de dialogue
interreligieux .
Plusieurs de nos prêtres et diacres nouvellement ordonnées , et même d'autres
femmes de notre cycle de préparation qui ne sont pas encore ordonnées sont déjà
reconnues et acceptées par une communauté qui reconnaît en elles les dons sacerdotaux
du ministère.Quand elles seront ordonnées d'abord comme diacres puis comme prêtres ,
le ministère de ces femmes prendra naturellement de plus en plus d'importance et
grâce à l'ordination de plus en plus directement orienté vers les sacrements .

la fédération des ministres chrétiens .Nous incitons les femmes qui suivent notre

Qu'est-ce que la certification FCM ?
La certification est la reconnaissance d'un appel par une communauté de croyants qui
demande à un de ses membres de remplir la fonction de ministre dans les ministères qui
nécessitent une qualification civile tels que témoin de mariage ou pour la pastorale
en tant qu'aumônier .
La certification est la reconnaissance d'un appel par une communauté de croyants pour
qu'une personne remplisse la fonction de ministre , proclame la Parole , réunisse la
communauté et encourage les services d'entr-aide .De plus elle habilite les ministres
aux tâches civiles comme enregistrer les mariages . FCM donne une habilitation
professionnelle à des hommes et des femmes compétents pour remplir ces tâches en
son nom .Ainsi les membres certifiés peuvent enregistrer légalement les mariages ,
accomplir d'autres activités pastorales et cela permet de faire advenir diverses
formes de ministère .
C'est pleines de joie et d'espoir que nous attendons les premiers compte rendu de
nos ministres récemment ordonnées sur la tournure que prend leur ministère .
