Seiten: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 Liebe Frau Dr. Forster und Kolleginnen, ich möchte Ihnen auf diesem Wege meine Solidarität bekunden, indem ich - zum xten Mal - feststelle: Es gibt keine wissenschaftlich (und Theologie geriert sich ja als Wissenschaft) haltbaren Begründungen gegen eine Amtsübernahme durch Frauen. Ihr Schritt war überfällig, denn Rom hat ebenfalls zum x-ten Mal gezeigt, dass es nicht in der Lage ist, auf Argumente zu reagieren. Totalitäre Systeme lassen sich nur durch revolutionäre Akte beeindrucken - und in dringend nötige Furcht versetzen. Ich betrachte die Priesterinnenweihe als einen lutherischen Akt gleichermaßen: Denn auch Luther wollte- wie Sie - keinesfalls eine Kirchenspaltung herbeiführen, sondern überfällige Reformen zum Wohle der Menschen. Er und seine Bewegung sind durch Rom abgespalten WORDEN. Ihnen scheint es nun ähnlich zu ergehen. Ich stehe als Katholikin und Frau an Ihrer Seite und erwarte von Rom, dies so zu Kenntnis zu nehmen, dass man/n mich ebenfalls zu exkommunizieren hat. Falls dies nicht erfolgt, kann ich daraus nur schließen, dass den Herren dort mein Geld - sprich meine Kirchensteuer - irgendwie doch noch wichtiger ist als die "Reinigung" der Kirche von solchen "subversiven Elementen" wie Sie und ich es offenbar sind. Wo und wann halten Sie Ihre ersten Gottesdienste? Es wäre sicher schön, wenn möglichst viele Menschen daran teilnehmen könnten. Und wann werden die nächsten Frauen ordiniert? Das muss jetzt dringend so weitergehen!! Nun haben Sie aber auch eine Aufgabe: Eine Theologie und eine Glaubenspraxis zu fördern, die von Offenheit und Vielfältigkeit, von Spiritualität und aufgeklärter Gegenwarts-Zugewandtheit zeugt. Entwickeln Sie neue Formen, agieren sie ökumenisch, denken Sie nicht "nach hinten", um Rom doch noch irgendwie beeindrucken zu können. Das wäre aus meiner Sicht der falsche Weg. By a letter of July 10th 2002, Mr. Ratzinger, Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has threatened them with excommunication. These women are believing, devout Catholics. It is because of their strong faith that they want to serve the Church with all of their capacity, as they do with all their hearts. They suffer to see the lack of male candidates for the priesthood and believers left without clergy. It seems tragic to us that today, when there is a real need in so many of our societies for the kind of hope and faith that the Roman Catholic Church can provide, that this need should remain unsatisfied because there are not enough men willing to be ordained. Further, unhappy experience has shown us, both of old and in very recent years, that even ordained men are often not spiritually strong enough to withstand some terrible temptations. It is our firm belief that women are spiritually stronger than men, and that they will not create the tragic scandals in the Church that too many male priests have created, such as the shameful sexual exploitation of boys, girls, and nuns. Wir würden heute noch Scheiterhaufen ( mein Spezialgebiet seit ich mich aus dem Lehrerinnen-Dasein verabschiedet habe ) aufschichten, wenn nicht beherzte Menschen immer wieder gegen den Strom geschwommen wären und mit überholten Traditionen gebrochen hätten. Ich versuche die Machtspielchen der Altherrenriege im Vatikan anders zu untergraben, indem ich mich der Vereinigung "Umwidmung von Kirchensteuern" (Vorsitz Dr. Magdalena Bußmann) angeschlossen habe und meine Kirchensteuer teilweise dorthin wandern lasse. Denn ich vertraue darauf, wenn den Knaben das Geld entzogen wird, werden auch sie für Vernunft zugänglich - zwangsweise, wenn nicht durch Einsicht. Schade nur, dass es in Deutschland bisher noch keine Partei gibt, die diese Überlegungen in ihrem Parteiprogramm hat. Aber ihr habt meine volle Unterstützung. Weiter so ! Kardinal Ratzinger macht einen großen Fehler mit seinem Ultimatum. Die Lebenssicht von Frauen kann nach meiner Überzeugung unserer zunehmend festgefahrenen und unglaubwürdiger werdenden Kirche weiterhelfen. Und was die Exkommunikation angeht: Exkommunizieren tut man sich selbst, das ist keine Maßnahme der Kirche. Übrigens bin ich auch "exkommuniziert": Ich habe früher mal am evangelischen Abendmahl teilgenommen. Bin aber weiter Mitglied der katholischen Kirche und dort (zZt etwas weniger als früher) aktiv. From: Dr. Herbert Kohlmaier Alle Ihr lieben Diskutanten zu diesem Thema, man mag das pro und contra zu dieser Aktion - und beides gibt es wohl - so oder so sehen, aber in die Haare geraten sollte man sich deswegen nicht! Der Lauf der Geschichte einschließlich der Kirchengeschichte zeigt uns immer wieder, daß die ganz wichtigen, die Grundfragen nicht in wohlgeordneten Schritten, nicht geplant und nicht auf höchster Ebene zur Lösung schreiten. Oft brechen sie ganz wirksam an scheinbaren "Nebenfronten" auf, es treten Ereignisse ein, welche die Wirkung eines Katalysators haben, auch wenn sie selbst nicht die Lösung herbeiführen. Das gilt sicher auch für die streitbaren Damen auf dem Schiff. Die Reaktionen auf ihr Tun setzen manch Wichtiges in Bewegung, vor allem an Denk- und Klärungsprozessen. Was liefert doch allein Ratzingers Abmahnung für Stoff zur Reflexion! Nicht nur über das Wort, wonach jene, die richten, selbst gerichtet werden. Vor allem die Berufung auf "ordinatio sacerdotalis" mit der Feststellung, die Kirche habe keine "Vollmacht" zur Priesterweihe an Frauen regt zur Betrachtung an. Da frage ich mich dann etwa, wo ist denn eigentlich die Vollmacht zur Priesterweihe im Evangelium überhaupt verankert? Dort nachzulesen müßte uns dem Problem doch näher bringen, aber ich finde die Stelle nicht ... Auch quält mich geradezu die weitere Frage: Ist die Priesterweihe nun ein rein spiritueller Akte des Glaubens? Dann wäre das, was nun passierte, vielleicht doch "gültig". Oder ist sie ein rechtlicher Akt im Rahmen einer Ämterverfassung? Dann wäre sie natürlich ganz und gar ungültig. Aber wäre damit das Wesen des Priestertums erfaßt? Vor allem eines solchen, für das Jesus selbst eine "Vollmacht" gegeben haben soll? Machte er nicht irgendwo die Anmerkung, daß das Gesetz für den Menschen da sei und nicht umgekehrt? Wie schade, daß er keine Rundschreiben erließ - da täten wir (und Ratzinger) uns leichter. Aber er hat das wohl aus gutem Grund nicht getan. Ein altes und weises chinesisches Sprichwort sagt: "Die Zeit enthüllt die Beweggründe der Menschen". Lassen wir die Zeit auch nach dieser Aktion des Ungehorsams ein wenig vergehen Wer weiß, was da noch alles enthüllt wird und zutage tritt? So plädiere ich für ein wenig mehr Gelassenheit zu diesem Thema und grüße sehr herzlich alle Freunde, die dem Geist unseres Herrn vertrauen. Ihr Herbert Kohlmaier, Wien. From: isaac wüst A SIGN OF RENEWAL FOR THE CHURCH A historic event took place on June 29, 2002, near Passau, Germany, on the Danube River, and in the life of the Roman Catholic Church. It is with hope, and in solidarity, that the Women's Ordination Conference announces the ordination of seven women to the Catholic priesthood. The women, from Germany and Austria, who prepared for ordination by completing degrees in theology and participating in a ministerial training program over the last three years were ordained by Archbishop Romolo Braschi of Argentina and Bishop Rafael Regelseberger of Austria. In the shadows of the clergy sexual abuse crisis, Catholics everywhere are in agony yet we continue searching for moral guidance. These ordinations are a light of hope in the church's healing process. Women are courageously creating a just, inclusive church, and their actions will spark continued dialogue, growth and change in the church. WOC has advocated for women's ordination in the Roman Catholic Church for twenty-seven years, always with the goal of creating a renewed priesthood in a vibrant and inclusive church. The ordination of women is clearly consistent with both the teachings and ministry of Jesus. After his death, Christ first appeared to Mary Magdalene, making her the 'apostle to the apostles' and demonstrating Christ's understanding that she would go forth to proclaim the gospel message. These ordinations should be viewed in the same light as the lives of the many female leaders who served in the early church. Rev. Ludmila Javorova, ordained in 1970 in Czechoslovakia's underground church is another example of this Tradition. Now, in the year 2002, more courageous women have stepped forward, and Catholic bishops have broken years of institutional silence by righting unjust church law. WOC is aware that some may question these ordinations on canonical grounds or because of the 'standing' of the ordaining bishops. WOC, however, chooses to recognize them as another important step in the struggle for women's equality in the church. These new priests cannot deny the spirit's call to serve. Even the hierarchy's culture of secrecy and requirements for silence cannot stop the ordination of women among the People of God. The work of the Women's ordination Conference is infused with love for the church and driven by a passion for justice. We support our sisters who find a way to respond to God's call to ordained ministry. We celebrate these courageous women and bishops whose actions illustrate the value of women's spiritual leadership to Catholics around the world. Until the day women are ordained to a renewed Roman Catholic priestly ministry, the church will have failed to fully reflect the glory and gifts of all God's people in the life of the church. We will continue in our commitment to assuring women's recognition as full persons, created in the image and likeness of God, and able to represent Christ through celebration of the Eucharist. Furthermore, now is the time to be direct with bishops regarding our vision of church and how we view reconstruction of the priesthood to include women. Let us pray that other Roman Catholic bishops will follow the prophetic actions taken in Europe. May they all find the courage and willingness to ordain women to priestly ministry. "firsthand account" from a witness al the ordination! I send you warm greetings from Passau, Germany, on the shores of the Danube River. Today, the bark of Peter was nudged onto a new course as seven women from Austria and Germany were ordained to the Catholic priesthood aboard a boat that sailed down the Danube from Germany to Austria and back. About 200 people from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada, and the U.S. attended that ordination. 1 found it especially significant that the boat changed course and turned around, shortly after the two bishops laid hands on the seven women. This may indeed be a symbol of hope for our church. Last year, Joan Chittister gave us great hope in Dublin, Ireland, as she courageously lived her conscience and spoke her message of gospel equality for the world to hear in spite of threats by the Vatican if she did so. Then her Benedictine Community in Erie, led by Christine Vladimiroff, stood by her in solidarity in such a way that even the Vatican had to back off. Ihose women gave us hope and heart. This year, seven women decided that the time had come to "call the question" on women's ordination, to take the words and speeches and theology and make them real in the flesh of human beings. In a real sense, what has been only "word" for us today became fiesh. This ordination already has its share of controversy. The two ordaining bishops are Bishop Romolo Braschi of Argentina and Bishop Rafael Regelseberger of Austria. They are not on Rome's list of recognized bishops, but they have a firm claim to apostolic succession. But given the Vatican's own official theology of ordination - that is, valid ministers and proper sacramental action make valid sacraments - it will be difficult to say these ordinations are anything but valid. (The Vatican will say that, of course, because it still regards women as "improper matter," but overturning such discriminatory ideas is the point of doing this after all.) These women acknowledged that today is "only a beginning." The American women present vowed that they will do the same action in the U.S. in the near future. One American woman said to me, "Some say 'next year in Jerusalem,' but I say next year in the USA!" Bishop Braschi, at the press conference, said he knows of groups of women already well advanced in their priestly preparation in Brazil, Argentina, and Africa. There is clearly much work to be done before women are recognized fully as priests in the Roman Catholic tradition. But these women believe, as do I, that they have taken a giant first step. Slowly but surely, the bark of Peter is being moved to a new course! I was privileged to witness the event, and I am delighted to share it with you. Maureen Fiedier Attack, on U.K. atholic Women's Ordination Group Westminster Cathedral Plaza - May 1, 2002,6.40 p.m. By MARY ANN Rossi The Catholic Women's Ordination (CWO), based in London, has held a prayer vigil the first Wednesday of each month since 1993, soon after the Anglican synod affirmative vote on women's ordination in the Anglican Church. We march around in a circle for an hour, pausing a few times to meditate and pray according to a liturgy composed by one of our members. On May 1, 2002, the liturgy concerned Mary's "Yes" to the Annunciation. We asked ourselves, "What will we say 'Yes' to?" In the next half hour, we discovered our response, when an irate woman attacked us, grabbed our "Hope for Women Priests" banner, and tried to rip it. She kept pushing the woman holding the banner and shouting, "Why are you here? You're always here! You're destroying the church!" I had a disposable camera so 1 took a photo of the scene unfolding. Suddenly, the woman turned on me and snatched the camera, grazing my glasses and breaking my fingernail in her violent gesture. Three of my friends ran after the woman, but two welldressed men who had just left the church service fended them off with an umbrella. They had been taunting us earlier, saying, "You're deluded. You're dreaming." They were encouraging the young woman's attack on us. Finally, we decided not to pursue her, but to report the incident to the police, who were cooperative. Remember, we're not supposed to talk about women's ordination, let alone demonstrate for it in a public place like the piazza of the Westminster Cathedral in London. So we pass out leaflets saying, "The No-Chat Show -Women Priests, Discussion Forbidden. Me Vatican wants to gag us. (See Apostolic Letter, Ad Tuendam Fidem.)" We feel vindicated. We have been marching and praying for nine years now, and we usually number about two dozen. But like drops of water wearing away stone, we'll get the message across. "All Catholics, through baptism, are eligible for ordination." Few people know that the church has ordered silence on this topic - bishops can be deposed for speaking about it. Can you imagine such tactics in the 21st century? We were all profoundly shaken by the hatred and violence shown by this young woman, who has evidently taken to heart the command to be silent.
